‘NE needs talents like Mary Kom, Bhupen to dispel ignorance’
NEW DELHI, Nov 08: The Northeast needs to produce more talents like champion boxer Mary Kom, late musician Bhupen Hazarika and ace footballer Baichung Bhutia to dispel the ignorance of people about the region and command respect, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju yesterday said.

Arunachal a repository of rare medicinal plants: Pul

Gadi exhorts engineers to ensure implementation of projects on time

ITANAGAR, Nov 08: PWD Minister Gojen Gadi today exhorted engineers to become foot soldiers of the department to ensure implementation of projects on time with quality.
Gadi, accompanied with a team of engineers including CE (Highway) Hage Apa and SE T Kamchi inspected the ongoing road construction from Papu Tinali to Yupia, NIT, Kola camp, Doimukh, Gumto, Nirjuli poultry farm colony, helipad road, D sector & Engineering colony in Naharlagun, TT Marg, narrow path of ESS colony, SP office Colony till Circuit House in Itanagar. Respective AEs of the areas apprised the minister of the progress.
M/s T K Engineering Construction Ltd representative assured that the road upto Yupia would be ready within 10 days. NIT director Prof C T Bhunia informed about the preparations for the visit of President of India Pranab Mukharjee scheduled on Nov 23 next to address the convocation of first batch of NIT students.
Local MLA Techi Kaso who also present assured all possible help for smooth execution of work, while Speaker Nabam Rebia rang up Gadi and requested to expedite Gumto road when the inspection was on there.
While inspecting the ongoing concrete cement road at Engineering Colony in D-
Naharlagun PWD EE, Taniya Soki explained that this is the first designed concrete road (DCR) in the Capital Complex. The execution is completely mechanised and the same pattern would be followed everywhere, he added.
Gadi directed proper construction of drainage system along the road network for longevity besides widening of road at few places including in colony roads.

On completion of the works, the face of Capital Complex would change, SE Kamchi said, adding the department has been encouraging local contractors to get technically updated and become competitive for taking up works in different parts of the state.
The GoAP has directed the department to upgrade the Capital Complex roads including in the colonies including 23.29 km of DCRs and 16.29 km of bituminous paved roads. This would provide a good riding surface for the convenience of the capital dwellers, the SE added.

Even before setting out for the thrilling expedition, crossing the poorly maintained
suspension bridge over Yargep-
We started trekking from Menchukha village around 7am. The town is named after the village.
Menchukha is comprised of three separate words, ‘Men’ meaning medicine, ‘Chu’-
The odd thing about us was that we were untrained and poorly equipped, except for few bottles of drinking water and some Khabje (locally made namkeen).
Singing and shouting in order to draw more strength and enthusiasm, we climbed up with noses on our knees and tongues out. We managed to reach at our first stop point which is around 1000 feets above sea level after a half hour climb, many were already out of their breath.

The stop point at 2000 ft was deceptive enough to create illusions among the members. Every member who managed to crawl up to the deceptive summit, cried out in jubilation as if no man had ever gone farther than him. Subsequently it killed our spirit, the moment we realised it was a ‘false summit’ and that we have to climb another 600 ft to reach Mechukha’s top summit.
We pushed beyond to the limits, part of us were screaming to give it up while part of us were firm and urged us never to drop from the fight. The eldest member Mukul Pathak of DY365 was out of the fight, he tossed his bags to this writer in the middle of the climb.
Why we called it a “deceptive stoppage’ because from there we could see smoke billowing
from the festival ground’s kitchen, by that time the organizer would have been probably
serving us our breakfast. It made us hungrier. Ah..! We missed our breakfast. The
vast enchanting Mechukha valley was apparently beckoning our exhausted team and its
meandering Yargep-
After the false summit, many collapsed due to exhaustion. Our legs and bodies were no longer supporting us.

He reached the final summit around 8:31 am, and the team leader Sanjay Mosing failed short to become Edmund Hillary as he was able to reach the top around 8:43 am only, while Tage Tajum of ATV finished third.

We trekked down the 1.2 kms mountain ridge where the words ‘MENCHUKHA” has been inscribed with bold fonts on the mountain, waving wildly and acknowledging our triumphant trek towards unreciprocated Mechukha town. We reached the Bailey bridge, which connects Mechukha town to Dorjeeling village, where the bus was waiting for us. As we boarded the bus, I looked back again to the vast mountain ridge, a thought passed through my mind, “no matter how tough your destination is, just take one step ahead, destination will be yours!”

The experiences explained above are under positive ‘g’ conditions when the weight increases. The opposite occurs under negative ‘g’ conditions. When a pilot experiences negative ‘g’, blood starts flowing upwards towards the head. When a pilot experiences prolonged minus 2 to minus 3 ‘g’, blood is flooded into the eyes and the pilot starts seeing Red. This is termed as Red Out. Human beings tolerance to negative ‘g’ is much less as compared to positive ‘g’ tolerance.

at this speed! Fighter aircraft routinely fly at triple that speed at 900 km/h and

When faced with some sudden life threatening emergency situations wherein death stares at your face, some pilots have experienced their whole life flashing in a split second in front of their eyes. It is like seeing your own life’s major events and major people known to you in cinematic screening mode flashing in front of your eyes in micro seconds.
There are many other extraordinary phenomena experienced during fighter flying. Once you get airborne and the wheels are retracted, one is overwhelmed with the feeling of raw power and seamless freedom (...there are no roads in the air!). The feeling of raw power with total control of a 40 ton muscular beast with 25 tons of engine power and tremendous firepower on your finger tips... what could be more filled with testosterone? It’s difficult to beat the sheer thrill of high speed flying with the earth’s surface zipping past you when flying very close to the surface of the earth. The unique feeling of loneliness and aloofness experienced when flying in a single cockpit fighter aircraft during moonless nights over the desolate desert. Spectacular views of Halo and Corona around the Sun and Moon during unique cloudy days and nights can be witnessed during flying.
When flying at the end of the troposphere at about 17-
On today’s highly manoeuvrable fighter aircraft one could carry out manoeuvres previously considered impossible. Various aerobatic manoeuvres like Looping manoeuvres, rolling manoeuvres, flying inverted (...you hang on the straps), vertical climbs and dives are routinely practiced. Today advanced manoeuvres like Tail Slides (moving backwards), Yaw Turns (Turning on own axes like a helicopter), Somersault etc are also regularly practiced. Have you seen birds executing these manoeuvres?
Like any other profession, fighter flying has its own advantages and disadvantages. It is not easy to become a good fighter pilot, but it is not too difficult also. Only birds were designed to fly. Human beings are not birds. But today human beings are beating birds at their own game! As explained earlier, there are many ‘out of normal life’ phenomena that can be experienced during fighter flying only. It may not be wrong to summarise and say that ‘Fighter Flying is Different’! Do any of you still want to fly fighter aircraft....?

ITANAGAR, Nov 08: The core group for Tibetan Cause led by its National Convener Dr. N.K. Trikha, called on UD, Tourism, Art & Culture Etc Minister Pema Khandu, Minister at Circuit house Tawang today.
Dr. Trikha informed Pema that the Group for Tibetan Cause is a worldwide group having its base in 39 countries across the globe. The team of nine members of the group from India hailing from different parts of the country including the Secretary for International Relation of Central Tibetan Administration, Sonam Norbu Dagpo and convener of the North East States RK Khrimey are in Tawang for generating awareness among the local populace of the State about the international issue of Tibet.
The group, in its discussion with the Minister, expressed its vehement opposition to the Chinese occupation of Tibet and the subsequent threat it has posed to the country, particularly with repeated claim of Arunachal Pradesh as part of its territory by the Chinese. The group further articulated that through mass awareness, a strong opinion needs to be generated among the people on the status of Tibet and the Tibetan cause worldwide.
Pema, while welcoming the group to Tawang, applauded the group not only for the Tibetan cause but also for the security of the country.
“We in Arunachal Pradesh had traditional trade relations with Tibetans and not with Chinese. We never had any border with China but only with Tibet. We consider the humiliation of 1962 as something that can’t be repeated in this age” said the Pema condemning the repeated Chinese claims of Arunachal Pradesh. Expressing solidarity and support to the members of the Core group the Minister termed the cause of the group a righteous one in greater interest of secured and peaceful future of the people of Arunachal Pradesh and wished the group success in its endeavour.
Hooligans made to restore vandalized asset
ITANAGAR, Nov 8: Vandalism of public property is cause of concern for the law enforcing agencies of state. Some uncivilized people willfully damage or deface the public properties, some which are of high public utility. One such incident was reported from Yanman village under Khimyang circle of Changlang district, where six villagers ransacked the Anganwadi center of the village. Nevertheless, the persons were arrested on the basis of complaint lodged by PRI members of the village and a case was registered under section 447/427/506 IPC under Khimyang Police station.
On receipt of bail petition, the accused were granted bail on the condition that they will reconstruct the damaged Anganwadi center with equal size and equivalent materials within twenty days from the date of bail, along with other conditions relevant under various sections of law.
The villagers from Yanman, yesterday, informed that the Anganwadi OB Type has been finally reconstructed at the same location and in similar size. The villager suggested that concerned department should lock the building whenever it is not in use. They submitted photographs of the restored Anganwadi center centre to the district administration in support of their completion letter.
This is a kind of lesson for all the vandals prevailing in different sections of the society and a way has been shown by the Changlang District Administration, to solve the problems of vandalism without extra investment. (DIPRO)

ATA interactive programme held
ITANAGAR, Nov 08: Arunachal Teachers’ Association (ATA) in an interactive programme at Polo Colony, Naharlagun, today discussed various issues related to welfare of the teachers, field functionaries of SSA/RTE, adult education such as BEO, BRCC, CRCC, APOs etc.
ATA president Tarh Yaku highlighted the various issues and problems confronting the teaching community and schools.
She emphasized on conduct teachers training program, timely supply of TLM, CCE materials, addressing infrastructural problems of various schools, problems in implementation of RTE and quality in civil works and supplies.
Her deliberation of on the release of pending arrears of ATs and other categories, streamlining of promotional avenues for all categories of teachers and construction of Shikshak Bhawan drew the attention of all present in the programme. She also highlighted the problems of SSA and RMSA teachers and suggested to increase the salary of RMSA teachers and include their salary for vacation period (2 months).
In addition, she appealed for concrete mechanism for regularization of SSA teachers and timely release of their salary. She also suggested enhancing the cash amount of state awardee teachers upto Rs. 50,000. She firmly called upon to discourage the activities of self proclaimed associations within the teaching community.

ATSU condemns the recent mass transfer of teachers

DAPORIJO, Nov 08: In a press release, All Tagin Students Union (ATSU) has condemned the recent mass transfer of teachers in the state in which transfer and postings were made mostly within the district.
ATSU claimed that 259 teachers out of the total 567 have been transferred and posted within East Siang district. Likewise, posting and transfer of 22 teachers have been made within Papum Pare district. In contrast, only 25 teachers were posted in Upper Subansiri from other district whereas the requirement of teachers in the district is not less than 200.
Opposing the transfer of three teachers from Upper Subansiri district to other districts, ATSU appealed to the authority concerned to reconsider the transfer order. It further demanded for posting of sufficient teachers in the Upper Subansiri.
AAPGDLU seeks stoppage of eviction drive at labour barrack
ITANAGAR, Nov 08: The All Arunachal Pradesh Government Departmental Labours’ Union (AAPGDLU) has sought stoppage of eviction drive that is being carried out at the Labour barrack near IG Park here.

ITANAGAR, Oct 08: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a ‘Swachh Bharat’ is gaining momentum in the state with each passing day.
The Christian Revival Church, Naharlagun organized a mass Social Service in the premises of the Church at “F” & “G” Sector Naharlagun under “Swach Bharat Abhiyan” to promote cleanliness and safe environment at the locality.
The members of CRC Naharlagun actively took part in the social service and repaired road, drainage system and disposed the debris of the sectors.

Arunachal stall at NE festival
ITANAGAR, Nov 8: The Arunachal Pradesh stall at North East Festival Delhi was inaugurated by Adi Baane Kebang Youth Wing, General Secretary Toi Modi at IGNCA New Delhi yesterday.
On the occasion, Modi and ABKYW President Aling Pinggam said that this kind of programme will boost tourism sector in North Eastern region. BJP alleges misuse of central fund in Arunachal
ITANAGAR, Nov 8: BJP today alleged misuse of Rs 3,500 crore central fund by the Congress government in Arunachal Pradesh in the last fiscal and said the state government should take corrective measures against corruption.
BJP state chief Tai Tagak in a statement here alleged misuse of central fund to the tune of Rs 3,500 crore in the last fiscal and said a huge chunk of the fund was siphoned off without producing any utilisation certificates.
"The dictatorial attitude of the chief minister should be changed. We need transparent and accountable governance," Tagak said.
The central government would never deny funds for developmental activities but the state government is required to take corrective measures against corruption, he said. PTI

Eight medal winners have qualified for Wado Karate Do Cup to be held in Japan next year (2015), informed chief instructor Sensei Yarda Niki.
While expressing his immense pleasure at the outstanding performance of the state team in the championship, Niki informed that two senior players, namely Nanu Sangha and Dari Lokam have been selected to participate in the Wado Karate Do Cup, to be held in Japan next year (2015).
Nanu is presently serving as Inspector at Tax and Excise department.
Niki also informed that eight players have also been selected provisionally for the Japan championship.
2nd Gora Tamer Memorial Football Tournament begins today

ITANAGAR, Nov 08: The 2nd Gora Tamer Memorial Football Tournament will begin at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun, tomorrow, according to Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA).
The opening match of the biennial tournament will be played between Subansiri United FC and Football Club Doimukh at 1.30 pm.
Eleven teams are participating in the memorial tournament and they are divided into four groups with winner and runners up of each group qualifying for the quarterfinals. East Kameng FC, Papu United, Emchi Gumto FC are clubbed together in Group “A” while Gora Makik SC, Young Brother FC and Nirjuli United FC are in Group “B”. Group “C” comprises Subansiri United FC, Tagung Neri FC and FC Doimukh. There are only two teams in Group “D” and they are Todo United FC and Senki Soccer FC.
Semifinals will be played on November 18 and 19 and final on November 21, informed APFA.
Arunachal bags medals at AIFS meet

ITANAGAR, Nov 08: The 21st All India Forest Sports Meet (AIFSM) 2014 was held at Panaji, Goa from 4th to 8th November. The Arunachal Pradesh team also participated in the meet with 27 contingents.
The medal winners from the state in the championship included Dobin Doke, ACF, Gold medal in Chess (Rapid), D. Doke and Techi Khilli, Silver (Badminton Men Veteran) and Dilip Gurung, Bronze in badminton (Men). Arunachal Pradesh bagged 20th position among 35 participating states and institutes of the country.
